Western Region Communicators

Purpose of the committee:

  • Develop a communications strategy for the Western Region Extension and Agricultural Experiment Station Joint Enterprise.
Objectives:
  • Increase visibility of Research and Extension Impacts.
  • Increase awareness of the region’s collective research and Extension educational activities.
  • Increase collaboration with Western Region Communicators and Program Evaluators
  • Strengthen partnerships with WGA, CSG-West, and WIR-NACo organizations and others not mentioned.
Outputs:
  • Products that will be used to tell the Western Region’s story to national organizations such as ECOP, ESCOP and NIFA.
  • Communications strategy and products shared by western LGU’s in the states, territories, and U.S. protectorates.
  • Western Region Communications Playbook (Draft – 06/24/22)
Western Region Communicators List (maintained by regional representative on the APLU Communication and Marketing Committee). Please notify Jennifer Alexander of any necessary changes to your institution.

WEDA Travel Support Criteria and Application

I.        WEDA Travel Support Criteria ($25,000 one-time funds for 2023-2024)

    1. Must be a WEDA member institution.  
    2. First priority for Insular Islands and 1994 LGU Representative to WEDA
    3. Second priority for 1862 LGU with severe budget limitations

II.                  WEDA Travel Support Funds for the following meetings:

    1. First priority for WEDA face-to-face meetings
    2. Second priority for Western Program & Organization Leadership Committee (WPOLC)
    3. Third priority for Western Region Evaluation Network (WREN)
    4. Fourth priority for Western Region Extension Leadership Program (WELD) 

III.                Timeline

    1. Call for proposals released by August 15th, 2023.
    2. Proposals due by October 1st, 2023.
    3. Decisions made by WEDA Executive Committee by November 1st, 2023.
    4. Following November 1st, dependent upon available funding, applications will be considered upon receipt.

 

IV.                Award maximum is $5,000 per request.

V.                  WEDA Executive Committee reviews proposals and approves funding dependent upon available funds.
